| Dr. ELI SOPOW (Ph.D.) I've given up looking for the "meaning of life" but never tire of trying to give life some meaning. If you're looking for help and academic credentials are important to you, then I'll ease your mind by confirming I have a PhD in Human and Organizational Systems, a Masters degree in Human Development, another Masters degree in Leadership & Learning, an undergrad degree in Public Administration and a Certificate in Peer Counselling. |
& Workshops Throughout the year I work with just a few clients. We select each other because our values are similar, we agree on direction, and we are honest with each other. I don't offer cookie-cutter solutions and I don't give you expensive reports padded with boiler-plate theories and thinking. Over the past 25 years I have provided counsel, training, presentations and research services to over 300 organizations. My past clients range from Starbucks Coffee Company and Greenpeace to major industrial corporations, national financial institutions, professional associations, and government agencies including the U.S. Office of Homeland Security. I don't pretend to have all the answers. But I do provide a track record of exceptional service honed through decades of experience, victories, mistakes, brave forays into unchartered territory and just plain ol' good luck. My work helps you link organizational culture to new actions, identify hot button issues, deal with change, communicate effectively, and manage crises. If you'd like to hear more, let's talk. | But education without knowledge is a very hollow place. And the best knowledge comes from experience. So I can also share with you that in the past 35 years I've worked as a journalist, an Associate Deputy Minister with a government Cabinet, a college instructor, and vice president of an international consulting firm. My award-winning expertise in change management and organizational development has taken me from the Arctic Circle to South America, from Washington DC to Los Angeles, and from one end of Canada to another. One of my major current roles is Special Advisor to the national Change Management Team of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. |
| Over the years I've worked with teams and led projects that have resulted in several award-winning national and international "firsts." -1971-1986: Nine regional awards for outstanding newspaper and television journalism. -1995: First in the world to use the internet as a corporate communications tool during a $100 million hostile takeover attempt. Action led to an international buzz about the power of "the net." -1996: Part of the strategy team that launched Citizen' Bank, the first national bank in Canada to deliver 100% on-line services. Represented a giant culture change from it's parent company-Canada's largest credit union. -2000: First in Canadian history to win the prestigious Howard Chase international award for excellence in issues management. Award recognized a strategy that led to a new awareness of health care crises. -2005: Received three national awards from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for excellence in crisis communications and issues management including a case involving the biggest serial killer file in Canada. STRATEGIC ALLIANCES As a former board member of the Issues Management Council, I am still plugged into a network of over 100 corporate and organization members dedicated to excellence in the field of issues management. I'm a member of the Plexus Institute, an organization committed to sharing and implementing organizational ideas based on complexity science and Chaos Theory, as well as the Society for Organizational Learning, a group dedicated to organizational change and learning, started by management visionary Peter Senge at MIT. I also continue as an Associate Faculty member at the Royal Roads University Schools of Leadership and Management. |
